Every year on April 20th—better known as 4/20—marijuana aficionados celebrate their favorite plant with festivals, concerts, marches, and smoke-outs great and small. The phenomenon apparently started among a tight-knit group of friends in Northern California in the 1970s, and then got got passed-along informally from head to head, until it eventually evolved into a huge international day of celebration.
