Want songs do you play when you're stoned?

Spooky Mansion are a band out of time. No single thing about the quartet is necessarily a dead ringer for the San Francisco of lore – no mandalas or hippie beads here – but their hilarious music videos, shirtless album cover and playful take on surf-rock all capture a breeziness and whimsy that suggest a time before the tech takeover, before constant worries of getting priced out, before luxury toast. Yet that goofiness never comes at the expense of musicianship. On their recent self-titled EP, the band combines punching bass lines with lyrical guitar work and the unmistakable voice of front man Grayson Converse to create a seething rollicking mess destined to get lodged in your head for weeks to come.

In this episode of the High Five, Converse, bassist Marty Reising and drummer Rob Mills (guitarist Charlie McCone not present) – walk us through some of their favorite tunes to get stoned to, and dig up some delightful high school memories along the way. The episode culminates with a story about their high school weed gang the League of Extraordinary Ganjamaniacs…but we’ll let them explain that one.
